This is the stocking stuffer guide for those of us who feel gaslit and poor when we open the stocking stuffer gift guides from most influencers. Just because a Kindle and Airpods fit in a stocking, doesn’t mean it is a stocking stuffer.
Here are my guidelines for stocking stuffers:
- No Junk – we’re not spending money just to throw it away by January
- Minimal candy/snacks (we’ve had enough by December 25)
- Fits in the stocking (preferably filling it up quickly)
- Practical and/or consumable
- $10 and less (exceptions are made if it comes multiple to a pack or is a necessity that fills the space of 2 or more items)
- Never more than $20
Babies
Toddlers & Preschoolers
Before you look at this list and think what the heck… I need you to think about all the things your kids steal from you. They will probably use office supplies, head lamps, and clicker counters more than the big toy Santa brings them. And they want the adult version, don’t try a child version or they will go right back to stealing yours.
Kids 5-9
I tried to stay away from food, because we have enough fun food by Christmas. But a friend told me she puts Pringles in each stocking and that’s genius. For $3 your taking up a good amount of real estate.
Preteens
Teen Girls & Women
There was so much overlap in this category that it seemed silly to make them separate.
