Harry Potter Trivia Night: At-Home Movie Date Series

Eric and I, Harry Potter nerds (ish—not convention crazy, but definitely fans), he was in charge of your first movie date night in the series and instead of picking a movie we decided to turn our movie night into a trivia night!

We set the mood with dim lights, candles, and a cozy “Harry Potter Frame TV” video on YouTube for that Hogwarts ambiance.

For drinks, we whipped up some Butter Beer (delicious, by the way but very sweet), and for snacks, we had lemon blueberry bread from Costco (because my attempt at pumpkin bread was… a flop).

Whether you’re a die-hard Potterhead or just looking for a cozy night in, this trivia date is a fun way to add some magic to your evening!

Eric found a free Harry Potter trivia HERE

You can watch the movies on Peacock or Max

You can also take a quiz here and the sorting hat will put you in your house. Eric and I are both Hufflepuff.

Butter Beer

  • 2 bottles cream soda
  • 2 tbsp butterscotch syrup
  • 2 mini bottles butterscotch schnapps
  • Whipped Cream (homemade or from a can)

Directions

  • Put your glasses in the freezer the morning of your date or at least at dinner time so they are nice and chilled
  • Pour a cream soda in the cup
  • Add 1 tbsp and a mini bottle of butterscotch schnapps. Stir
  • Top the drink with whipped cream
  • Drizzle with butterscotch

*I linked the butterscotch here so you know what to look for, but it is $12 online and $4 at your local grocery store by the fudge and caramel sauce.

Snacks

I had a few ideas for snacks here. Candy from the Trolley Cart, butterscotch cookies, or pumpkin bread. I decided pumpkin bread was the perfect balance for the super sweet Butter Beer, but my recipe was a FAIL. So we improvised with a Lemon Blueberry Bread from Costco, candy corn in a pumpkin dish, and Harry Potter Hershey’s.

My friend also lent me her Harry Potter Baking Cookbook which had lots of fun ideas.

Set The Mood

Since we are doing trivia you need some background noise. We are going to turn any tv into a frame TV, it is super simple. Search “Harry Potter Frame TV” on YouTube on your TV. There are a few different options, we picked the first one “Peaceful Day at Hogwarts”

Then you want to dim the lights and light a candle.

Grab a blanket to share, and post its and pens for you to write down your trivia answers.
