Women’s Gift Guide

I’m incredibly picky and maybe even a little snobby! I want quality items. Truth be told they tend to be expensive, but not because they are name brands, instead because they are quality and will last 10 years.

In the last year my outlook on consumerism has changed. I want less, but I want quality. It helps that I have figured out my personal style, or at least I have become confident in it and I don’t feel the need to do trends anymore. Instead, I want heirloom items that I will have for so long that the cost of use is basically free. I have been taking a good look at the items in my home and more importantly the items that I am donating, and I am realizing that I don’t want to waste money anymore on things that I won’t still love in 10 years.

All of this is a long way to say, this list is made up of items that I own and love as well as items that are on my heirloom wishlist. I recognize that heirlooms will be higher ticket items and that means (at least for me) that they will be on my wishlist for a long time while Eric and I save.

My intent is for this to be the only gift guide I ever need to write because I will stand by these gift choices for the next 50 years.

Jeans

Straight legs never go out of style and are worth investing in, everything else is a trend, so buy accordingly.

  • Brands I Love:
    • Madewell espically if you are petite & curvy in your butt and thighs
    • Levis
    • Old Navy (defintely not high quality, but they fit amazingly and you can’t beat their pricing)
  • Brands I Hate:
    • American Eagle (their sizing is hurtful and I’m far to vain for that)
  • Brands I Want to Try:
    • Nuuds (I’m worried that they are designed for women who carry their weight in their stomach vs their thighs and butt, aka ME)
    • Mother Jeans
    • A Gold E
    • Abercrombie – I like their shorts, I don’t know why I hesitate on their jeans

Sweaters

I saw someone recently say that they hope to inherit their grandma’s sweater collection and that stuck with me. Quality clothes that are well cared for can last generations! GOALS!!! The only sweaters that will last that long are the ones made of natural fibers (cotton, wool, cashmere).

Jackets

Jackets are another item that I think are STUNNING and can be passed down for generations, if you buy them nice. We have my Papa’s old leather jacket in my closet and I want to give it to Derek one day. It’s in amazing condition and he wore it religiously. Can you imagine, a jacket that your great grandfather wore! This is my goal when I am shopping as a picky girl who loves a classic look.

Shoes

I live in flip flops, but I am trying to branch out here. I’m definitely not an expert in shoe styles, but I can do comfy and classic boots. Maybe as I learn more, I will add more. But for now this is what I know I can recommend.

Accessories

I feel like accessories allow you determine if your classic sweater and jeans are elevated or casual. I’m a casual girl all day, every day.

Comfies are not something I think are worth investing in. I am just as cozy in a $30 sweatshirt as I am in a $98 one.
